Naval Academy and City of Livorno Trophy (TAN)

The Naval Academy and City of Livorno Trophy (TAN) is now in its 27th year. The regatta has in years past achieved a high level of sporting performance and benefited from exceptional media coverage. This media interest has highlighted the Italian Navy’s public image in both the sailing world and the general public. Specifically, the beneficiary has been the Navy’s reputation of efficiency, respect for sailing tradition, the sea and the maritime world in general.

A number of recent initiatives have demonstrated great solidarity with local social Livornese organizations and have been included in this years race. These initiatives allow for the participation of athletes with disabilities.

TAN includes a proven program of educational opportunities for students and officers of the Naval Academy. Several opportunities for exchange events between countries exist, including but in no way limited to professional and sporting events.

TAN is a truly historic event that operates under the patronage of the President of the Republic, always attracts great media coverage, and attracts the attention of hundreds of websites that describe the Race and City of Livorno. There are several prestigious sponsors, among whom are Paul & Shark, the major sponsor, and the D’Alesio Group who share in the Navy’s desire to cultivate high levels of technical expertise among the participants and provide full days of activities for spectators and participants alike at the sailing village. These are only a few of the rewarding experiences that inspire the Officers and Students of the Naval Academy, nautical associations of Livorno (Yacht Club of Livorno, Nautical Circle of Livorno, Sailing Club of Quercianella and Sailing Club of Antignano, Italian Naval League (Livorno section) and Group Sail Assonautica of Livorno), and local authorities to cooperate in making these training events possible.
